247 TYPE
a type design collective

247 Type represents the type design work of Dustin Mattaio Mara, Peyton Todd, and Burke Smithers. Their typefaces and glyphs explore revivals, one-offs, experiments, and representations. The trio’s work — both together and as individuals — has been recognized and awarded by the ADC and the TDC.

Their passion for type was founded in the visual communciation design program at the University of Washington. Their interest was fostered by Karen Cheng (author of Designing Type), while working as her teaching assistants in her type and symbol design class. Each has continued training in type from Type@Cooper and TypeParis.
